About the author

Camille Gavin’s previous include Kern’s Movers & Shakers. Her work has appeared  in local, regional and national publications.

Camille Gavin's latest book, 'How Roadrunner Got His Spots and Other Yokuts Myths', is a fascinating set of tales based upon Yokuts Indian myths.  She is also the author of Kern's Movers and Shakers and Yokuts Uses of Native Plants.Prior to entering the field of journalism in 1974, she was a children’s librarian.   Currently, she is a weekly columnist for The Bakersfield Californian.

She holds a BA from Fresno State University; an MA from California State University, Bakersfield. Gavin has taught journalism and public relations courses at California State University Bakersfield (CSUB), and University of California, Santa Barbara Extension.
